From the article: "What part of the world your ancestors came from can affect your disease risk and determine how your body metabolizes certain drugs. Yet 96 percent of participants in modern studies on disease genetics have been Caucasians, people of European descent. In the U.S., African-Americans and Hispanics make up nearly 30 percent of the population, yet account for only about 6 percent of all clinical trial participants. The result is a one-size-fits-all approach to medicine that benefits some segments of the population more than others."
